Talk at Internetdagarna on 25 November 2025, in the session “Digital transformation with new perspectives – power, art and caring innovation”, put together by Terese Raymond of Digidel, putting me alongside Simon Lindgren and Anne Kaun, moderated by Johanna Koljonen. • What smart lamps bring: dependence on the internet and wifi, a power imbalance when one person has admin control, unclear data storage, and new skills needed just to turn on the lights.
  • Higher risk of abuse in close relationships and of intrusion, plus lost remotes, unpredictable behavior and ever more add-on products.
  • The same patterns in organizations: we invest in efficiency, simplicity and security, and often get the opposite.
  • The people building the big digital services are largely a monoculture, making assumptions about what others need.
  • “If innovation makes many people feel worse, can we really call it innovation?” People with lived experience of exclusion and discrimination should be involved as experts.
